10th Anniversary and 1st Scientific Conference Launch
The GFELTP after a decade of existence seeks to hold its 1st Scientific Conference and 10 Anniversary Celebrations to showcase its achievements and plan for the future.
The Proposed Scientific Conference and Anniversary
With over a decade of existence and contribution to the health sector of Ghana and the West African sub region, the GFELTP saw the need to create a platform to highlight the achievements of the programme, strengthen and build functional partnerships and celebrate the successes accomplished.
The Steering Committee of the GFELTP under the chairmanship of Dr. Badu Sarkodie, Director Public Health of the Ghana Health Service, agreed for the holding of 1st Scientific Conference and celebration of 10th Anniversary of the GFELTP. The purpose of the proposed conference is to provide a platform for the residents, alumni and prospective residents of the programme in Ghana and abroad to share ideas with colleagues from Ghana and other FE(L)TPs on the continent and beyond. The programme will also offer networking opportunities and provide the residents and alumni opportunities to share their works with a wider scientific community. The GFELTP will use this opportunity to showcase its achievements over the years. Public health surveillance activities, outbreak investigation and response activities as well as other planned studies undertaken by the residents and other public health students and practitioners will be shared at the conference.
The theme for the conference is “A decade of Field Epidemiology training in Ghana: Scaling up workforce development to improve Public Health”.
The proposed date and venue for the conference is 18th -21st September 2017 at the Swiss Spirit Hotel and Suites Alisa, Accra.
A media launch was held on 17th August 2017 to showcase activities towards the anniversary and conference at the University of Ghana School of Public Health, Accra, Ghana.
